Day 6

(In the words of Bum on Bike, Jules)

We are half way having arrived at Bowness on Lake Windermere with 508 miles behind us. Like our daily rides, half way is always a bit of a mixed emotion…on the one hand you are half way there, on the other you’ve still got to do the same distance all over again.

Today was always planned to be our rest day with a relatively short 55 mile ride which we completed by lunch. Not only was it short, but the weather was fair, the wind behind us and we cycled along rolling country roads through the beautiful Lancashire countryside. The highlight was the glorious Valley of Bowmore and there were moments when we all collectively agreed that we quite liked cycling again!

Other the last week we have been blessed with great weather – we have cycled from Land’s End to the Lake District without a single drop of rain which is pretty remarkable. However, the forecast for tomorrow is terrible with heavy rain all the way to Scotland. We will certainly need our rain gear, but we have received so much support from friends and strangers alike our spirits remain high.
